Cradle Of Hope In Review, Part One
Greetings, Xenites, and welcome to the Christmas edition of XWP In
Review. Our series continues with a timely look at the the
fourth XWP episode, Cradle Of Hope. As I've mentioned
before, my aim in this series is not to produce a play-by-play
retelling of the stories, but, rather, to record and share with you
some of my impressions upon watching the show again, with eyes that
have seen what is yet to unfold and a heart that aches with the
knowledge it holds.
That said, I couldn't help...
Cradle Of Hope, XWP In Review Continues Later This Week
XWP In Review is back on the front burner and in
the spirit of the Solstice/Christmas season, I'm viewing and
reviewing what I think was the very first XWP holiday episode,
Cradle of Hope. Now that I have a monitor that works (thanks to the
generous Solstice gift from a very dear friend), I'll be able to
give this project (and so many others and, well, this whole site)
some sorely needed attention. The projects need work. And I need
the...
Dreamworker in Review, Part Two
Warrior...Princess...Dreamer
Watch Xena when the ghost/dream victim offers her the sword. Notice the play of light on her face, how the eerie blue light casts shadows around her eyes..

Dreamworker In Review, Part One

Gabrielle: “You know? Doesn’t it make more sense that I should learn how to defend myself? _I_ think it makes more sense.”< br /> Xena: “Don’t confuse defending yourself with using a weapon. When you pull a sword, you have to be ready to kill.”
Gabrielle: “You don’t think I know that?”
Xena: “No-- I don’t think you do. People are too quick to go for their sword. It should always be the last resort.”
Once I decided to...
Dreamworking - working on the next installment of XWP In Review
True, I was going to write
more about Chariots Of War...and I still am. But the ideas
that grew from the viewing of Chariots and the research into the
mysterious history of Troy and the region beyond — and certain gods
and demons of that region — have yielded fruits beyond the review
and will also tie in to other XWP episodes coming up in our journey
in the not-too-distant future. And will tie in also with another
writing project that...
Chariots Of War, Part Three, Section A

Note: This is Part Three, Section A. I'm delving a little deeper than I expected. I'll post Section B when it's through.
Greetings, Xenites, and welcome to this
edition of XWP In Review, Chariots of War, Part Three. I'm
learning so much as I continue with this project and my focus will
inevitably shift from one idea to another, from themes and scenes
and who knows what and back again as time goes on. My main intent
is to explore the soul mate...

I'm in the middle of writing COW part three
I'm in the middle of COW
part three and I'm loving this ep more and more. And feeling better
too. Getting outside today for a while helped. Abby's boyfriend's
mom called and all of us "doggy mom's" got together at the park and
let the dawgs romp. Abby even got a sweet little Valentine gift
from her sweet little boyfriend. Which is more than I will get, I'm
sure. Poor, poor, pitiful me. Well, I did get this lovely sinus
infection and what must have been the flu. But somehow...
COW Pt 3 due this weekend
I spent the night watching Lucy and ROC videos and trailers and such and reading and posting on the forums over at XOC (Xena Online Community). I really wanted to get back to the review sooner, but for two weeks I've been battling what must be the flu or something. Been working my tail off during the weekdays, and completely unable to focus for anything but short stretches at night and on the weekend. But I am finally feeling like a human being again, so I plan to finish up COW part three...
Chariots Of War In Review, Part Two

Greetings, Xenites, and welcome to XWP In
Review: Exploring the Connection -- the Soul Mate
Connection, that is -- where we are currently viewing Season One,
Episode Two: Chariots Of War. (See other
reviews in this series.) We pick up the thread of our story
again at the point where it unraveled last time. (Not the story, so
much, just my ability to focus on it...

Chariots Of War, Faux Part Two (real one's coming later)

(A warrior in her
underwear, well, jammies, steps out of the shadows, whips out a
scroll -- Whoosh! -- and steps up to the mike.) I know I was
supposed to write Part Two of the review of Chariots Of War for
tonight, and I tried, but I've been pretty sick, folks. So I'm not
going to write the real review until this weekend. But I did
watch the first...
Chariots Of War, Review, Part Two on the way

Update: I finally got WinDVD to activate. You won't believe what I went through. But after multiple calls, I finally got through to Customer Servce, finally got a human being on the phone, who listened to me say, "I'm having trouble activating my software," and then she zapped my call back into the queue, but fortunately I was only number two in said queue, so I waited. Hey, I'm on
XWP In Review - Season 1, Ep 2: Chariots Of War, Pt 1

G: “And so, Zeus, in his appreciation, turned the two lovers into oak trees. And then do you know what happened?”
X: “Somebody built a boat out of them?”
G: “No-- their branches intertwined, and they spent the rest of their days in each other’s embrace.”
X: “What’s the point?”
G: “Come on, Xena. I believe everyone will find their tree in the forest someday-- even you.”
X: “I find the strongest trees in the forest stand alone.”
G: “You don’t have...
SOTP, Part three: Melancholic rambling thoughts on watching XWP

Once in a very great while comes a story
that so fires the imagination and stirs the heart,
that one feels compelled to put pen to paper,
and in the ages-old way of the story-teller,
set forth those echoes she hears.
Echoes of stories and songs, songs of souls as they call,
soul calling to soul across the deep night of time...
These are words from a prose-poem I posted on the NetForum back in 1998 not long after I joined...
Sins Of The Past, My (Sorta) Review, Part Deux

I'm watching
SOTP prior to writing the review, part two. Watching Xena and Argo
ride up over the hill. Watching her eyes as she looks at the burnt
out buildings, sees past them and through them, sees them burning,
sees the villagers scream as she slew them. Watching her meet the
boy orphaned by a thunder-bolt hurling, fire-breathing evil warlord
named Xena who rides in a chariot across the...
Sins Of The Past, The Journey Begins

Drum beats and drones. Another exotic wind
instrument wails. A figure on horseback rides into view: a woman
dressed as a warrior and wrapped in more mystery than the
mist-covered landscape that surrounds her.
Xena is coming home. And watching those first moments of the opening scene of Xena: Warrior Princess, I felt as if I were coming home, too. The muscles in my abdomen tightened as the music...
The Moment They Saw Each Other - Soul Mates and the Jolt of Recognition in SOTP
