Rapture and Pain, a short poem for IOM
Rapture and Pain, a short poem for IOM. I had been reading and listening to a lot of Joseph Campbell over the last few years before this episode first aired. Facing, and not only facing, but embracing horrific pain was a constant theme in my reading, listening and thinking. When I saw this scene, something in me was deeply moved. I wrote a few poems for it, including this one below, which happens to be one of the few poems I've set to an image. There is another poem for IOM, a much longer poem, that I will post soon. It has a few images that go with it and I want to work with them a bit first.
