Nights are for nightmares, a poem for SAC2
"Nights are for nightmares" is a poem written for SAC2,
or rather, for the aftermath. I really was haunted by that episode,
which you can tell by how much writing came out of it, poems, songs,
rambling excuses for essays... And a still unfinished piece of fan fic,
which, if I do say so myself, had some moments in it which were simply
scintillating. And some other moments that were simply strange. And a
good many that were both! *G*

Nights are for nightmares,
my arms so empty.
I was willing to give up everything
for you,
but not ...
you.
Nights are for nightmares, so empty.
Haunted by your stare.
Exhausted from days and nights spent
crying for you.
Waiting for you as if you were only
pretending to leave me, to give up all,
to give up...
me...
Pretending
to
fall.
I fall asleep only to reach for you,
wanting to touch you, to hold you.
And I jump to my feet, weapons drawn to defend you
when I realize you’re not there ...
then I realize ...
you’re not there ...
Nights are for nightmares, days become darkness,
my arms forever empty.
Your act of Greatest Love, to save me,
you gave me with your last breath
the sound of your screams to haunt my dreams,
longing for the sweetness of my own death.
Nights are for nightmares,
I...am...
so...
empty...
