Hoping Against Hope, a poem and song for SAC2
Hoping Against Hope is, yes, another poem/song for the XWP ep,
SAC2. And it's a good thing there was such an ep as SAC2, or else I
might never have written a frakkin' thing, donchaknow! *G* I've never
recorded the tune for Hoping Against Hope, but I do have two versions of
it in my head. The music for the first version, which I composed back in
1998, sounds hopelessly stupid to me now, so I'm working on a newer, if
not better, version now. I like it so far. We'll see. Take a look at the
drawing by Paks,

The last time we fought together
was the last time I saw you.
We stood and fought for the Greater Good.
What happened then I never thought could.
I still see the look you gave me
when I saw you as you fell.
And my heart stopped as our eyes locked,
then you stepped through the Gates of Hell.
Stars still fill the sky with light,
but I only see Darkness everywhere I turn.

I don’t think I can live without you,
you made everything right, now everything’s wrong.
I knew that there was a chance I’d lose,
lose everything, this fight, or my life.
But I really thought we could make it, girl.
Couldn’t have cut me deeper with a knife.
I was hoping against hope then,
now all my hope is gone.
I’m begging you, please, down on my knees,
please wait for me, I won’t be long.
I can’t believe you’d leave me.
No, I can’t believe you’re gone.
But I’ll be there soon, I promise you,
I’ll be there with you where I belong.
I’ll be there soon, I promise you,
I’ll be with you, I swear, before too long.
